Here's my takeaways from your video:
1. You had an inner drive to learn about your instrument and music, and become better at it
2. You had a few very good teachers who gave you real-world instruction and advice about music and the business of music
3. You were able to network with other musicians and develop important friendships and relationships
4. You focused on practicing your instrument
5. You have a humble attitude
It appears Berklee was a very good fit for you, but I would guess you would have been successful wherever you would have gone. Thank you for sharing!

takeaway: whether you go to Berklee or not; stay humble, work your ass off and you won't regret a thing. - yes!!

According to Google the average musician's salary is $40k. Absolutely not worth going $240k into debt to land a $40k job in which you will most likely never be able to pay off said debt. But if your parents pay for it then it's totally worth it.

The tuition deposit alone is $1,000. My friend who's a genius at drums got accepted, but just couldn't afford it. Now he's paying back the deposit while working at Applebees in Charlotsville.

You seem to be a very articulate young man and what you say makes perfect common sense. You are not trying to convert people into going to Berkley but simply explaining your personal experience then laying out diffrent options. Im a bass player and 63 yrs old. If I was 18 Id personally would find Berkley much too expensive and would go to City College here in New York and get a 4 year performance degree. That would save me alot of money and Id still have a musical education. The one good thing Berkley does seem to offer is that the students all seem to have networking capabilities once they leave school and all seem to stay in touch. But of course one could also simply finish high school and take private lessons and save lots of money. This to me personally seems to make the most sense if youre extremely talented.

I went to Berklee in the 80’s and it was expensive for that time is well. David is a terrific and talented player, and although Berklee has a great rep and program, it’s all about what you make it, like any place else. One of my favorite players, Jeff Lorber, went there for about a year, left, and then took the jazz world by storm. Had nothing to do with going to Berklee. It’s really about the individual. But there are great things to be experienced there, of course. It’s no guarantee for success, however. You either have “it”, or you don’t. School won’t make it happen. You do, or you don’t - it’s your choice. Continued success, David - love your videos and your playing. I believe you’ll do great in your career !

I appreciate you still knowing you have a lot to learn even though you graduated from Berklee. One of my best friends graduated from there a few years ago and he feels the same way even though he's one of the most well-versed musicians I know. Humbleness is a fantastic trait to have. :)

I went to Berklee back in the 60's when the school was a brownstone on Newberry St. If your serious about becoming a Musician it is the place to go. It was then and I'm sure still is today.
