Update on my health. I am having my surgery next Monday. I am having a lumpectomy. It will follow with radiation treatments later this summer. Thanks for all the lovely notes and replies last week. I wanted you all to know what the next step was. And Nicola, I enjoyed the video so much. It helps keep me distracted and it lifts my spirits to watch you outside and finding history.

I always enjoy watching Nicola and Simon MudLarking together. The friendly banter, the competition, the shared knowledge that spills over to us as we tag along, and the boundless layers of Historic and interesting items that are uncovered is fascinating. Plus we love seeing what can be created using bits and pieces of Thames Foreshore leftovers- Nicolas beautiful glass fish, and Simon's "Outsider Art" and "Upcycled" bottles, LOL!. Nicola and Simon it's always fun when you are together and you take us along! Thanks!

I’ve just found your videos. I live in San Diego, CA in the US. I’m so envious of your finds!!! Your historic finds are so fantastic! I’ve always been interested in history. Not so much dates and the happenings, but, the people and how they lived, etc. The pipe finds are extraordinary. 😊

Nicola, your videos have been so soothing to my soul. In October I had an aneurysm start to rupture and had a stroke. Watching your channel has given me a vacation from the hospital and rehabilitation facility life I’ve been living in California. I grew up on rivers in Indiana my whole life until 2011. I wish I could go to England and mudlark and find treasures. Don’t know if I will but I can dream. Thank you for your art and sharing your adventures. It means the world to me on my recovery. Sending love and luck while larking

Haha. Got so excited I forgot to post the info….

Brick with Star of David from the River Thames. Circa 1884 ...In England, a brick featuring the Star of David likely represents the Star of David as a symbol of Judaism, or perhaps a unique trade mark of a brick manufacturer. The Star of David, or Magen David, has become the identifying symbol of Judaism and is often worn by Jews. In the past, some brick manufacturers, like P & S Wood of West Bromwich, used the Star of David as a trade mark, though the reason for its adoption is sometimes unclear.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Symbol of Judaism:
The Star of David is the most recognized symbol of Judaism, representing the shield of David.
Trade Mark:
Some brick manufacturers, particularly in the past, used the Star of David as a trade mark or logo. For example, P & S Wood of West Bromwich, which was advertised in the London Suburbs Post Office Directory in 1884, used the Star of David with the "W" in the center as their trade mark.
Historical Context:
The use of the Star of David by brick manufacturers may be a historical curiosity, as its adoption as a trade mark is not always clear, but it does point to the presence of Jewish communities and potentially some degree of integration in certain locales.
Modern Interpretations:
The Star of David is also seen in some Masonic lodges, where it is not necessarily a symbol of Israel but rather of the Royal House of David, and has been linked to Freemasonry's symbolic use of light and understanding.
