The only thing missing was seeing the consistency of the cream after it cooled, how greasy it appeared on the skin and how quickly it was absorbed.

Thank you.
DIY lip balm, 1 oz beeswax + 4 oz oil, hand/body lotion 1 oz beeswax + 6 oz oil.
This video demo:
2 oz beeswax, melt in a double boiler; add in 6 oz each of olive oil, vegetable oil, some coconut oil or extract to make aroma, empty the contents of 5 capsules of vitamin E to extend the shelving period to 9 months without turning rancid. 10:24 DONT OVER HEAT THE MIXTURE.
Packing: Pour in small containers (if essential oil is used, better in airtight glass containers).

Just tried: Body cream 1 oz beeswax to 8 oz grapeseed oil, 10 capsules of vitamin E. Good result.

Thanks! I made my first batch of board butter for my hand made cutting boards. My GF suggested to make lip balm and hand cream. I did A LOT of YouTube surfing and stumbled onto your channel. Thank you for making a simple thing simple to understand. A lot of these channels make it so confusing. I can take your small math and scale it up for a larger production. Thanks!

Thank you for your video. I like to watch others and pickup tidbits along the way. I mentor my new beekeepers the same way.. it’s best to find a few other beekeepers to bounce off questions with.
Skin cream… I think you made a nice salve. Without an emulsifier to make the beeswax bind to the oils it will separate. Not an issue… just stir it bit up! But… if you incorporate borax to beeswax based creams or lotions, you get a true emulsion which will have a much longer shelf life and a silky smooth product.
Very fast and easy, great product .. maybe a greasy feeling with your pins?
My skin cream ratios are 20% beeswax, 40% oils and 40% water.
Melt wax into your oils, then blend the oil/wax with the water portion… do that with both at the same temperature.
If you really want to kick it up use “ propolis wax instead of beeswax.
Propolis wax will come during your propolis processing… all wax will have propolis but pulling wax off the top of a large pot of processed propolis has a far higher percentage of active propolis.
This will kick up the healing factor and you can charge a premium… my 4oz skin creams I’ll sell around $15. My medicinal skin cream with propolis wax …$ 30-$39 for 4oz.container. I can’t make the medicinal fast enough at times plus I don’t always have enough propolis wax on hand to make it.
My main question would be your choice of carrier oils… olive and vegetable oil.

.
Both of those oils have short shelf life’s… and will eventually turn rancid if not used fast enough. Greasy feeling on skin a lot of times too. Vitamin E will help slow that down but without a preservative it won’t last long.
I despise preservatives so to avoid them I select oils with much longer shelf life’s that resist turning rancid.
If not concerned about shelf life then costs are outstandingly low with your oil choices.
I hope I don’t sound like a 2-3 or 4 year beekeeper with bee fever that think they know everything lol.
Thank you!

Love love the video. I am an orthodox muslim and in Islam we have a "chapter" in the Quran called THE BEE
"And your Lord inspired to the bee, 'Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].' There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought." (Quran 16:68-69)

Wonderful! Except that I'd like to use almond oil instead of the veg oil! Great work you are doing! Thank you for sharing! I will be including this hand cream in my home business products!

You should write a book all about it for us including what you’ve learned scaling up. I am going to watch all of your videos. When I move I am going to attempt some of it at least. For now I’ll make the balm and buy the wax. 😊
