What did I sacrifice? Twenty minutes and fifty-one seconds. I gave them freely, knowing they would never be returned. And yet, I would do it again—willingly—knowing it will never feel as fresh, as powerful, as the first time. I surrender my view, not for myself, but for the unseen others, those I will never meet, so that the algorithm may carry this moment to them. I ask for no recognition. No reward. Only that the message endures.

I really love this show much.
Luthen is sadly absolutely right, rebellion and war is costly and bloody but rebellion take a spark.

I can see Cassian executing Luthen as danger closes jn, and I can see Luthen giving that smirk as he realises he has fully radicalized Cassian. It's all so grey which is what makes it such compulsive viewing.

I remember when Deep Space Nine introduced Section 31, introducing the idea that some (very small group of) people have taken it upon themselves to do terrible things in order to protect people who want to play by the rules. Luthen reminds me of that story. Off course, Paramount kinda ruined the whole story idea over time by turning section 31 into cartoon villains with secret fleets and armies. But the original idea was fantastic when added to a traditionally good guys/bad guys story.

I think Gail Akbar is enough of a stone cold killer to deliver Luthen's monologue.

First comment, lots of pressure.
I really liked Andor S1, the galaxy felt much more real, but somehow did not sacrifice the Original Trilogy to get there.
Tony Gilroy is such a good story teller, he understands what is necessary to the story. We actually get to see the Imperial Army in use and Stormtroopers are scary for possibly the first time. The Empire feels like a real entity in Andor and Rogue One and something the Rebels will have a real hard time defeating like we see in Rogue One.
I have a couple examples I think are good at illustrating how too much Good Luck or too much Bad Luck can ruin a story.
Too Much Good Luck:
In the First Sigma Force Novel, Sandstorm by James Rollins, every other chapter the villains deploy some plot to murder the main characters only for them to escape by some quirk or lucky incident. It was annoying to read and by the dawn of the third attempted assassination you are begging for the villains to win so some amount of sanity can return to the story.
Too Much Bad Luck:
The Transformers (2023) comic run by Daniel Johnson is a good example here. The Autobots keep getting beat down with small wins, then Optimus does an idiotic assault that kills or maims a bunch of his limited cast of Autobots only to just barely win. It has been like that for 16 issues with a story that feels like it has done everything and nothing at the same time, trying for moral complexity but not pulling it off well.

It is the best monologue in the entire franchise. Most of dialogues before Andor are silly and sometimes stupid. Andor is Star Wars at it best. That is how Star Wars survive and evolve. Grown up intelligent writing, plotting and acting. Leave the child Star Wars in the past. We have to grow up eventually.

Yes, scheme would have double crossed Andor the first chance he had.
