  this is why i’m never impressed when people say how long they’ve been married. number of years doesn’t equate to love.

  In my internship I had a client who was early 70s and left her 50 year plus year marriage due to abuse. She was ashamed bc she didn’t know how to use checks or banking. She had never learned. I felt privileged &nbsp;to teach her, and have never forgotten the courage and bravery it must have taken at that age to leave and make anew life

  She should run to the estate planning attorney. I&apos;m over 70 and twenty years ago, I got a settlement from injuries from a car accident. My husband told the attorney to have the check made out to both of us. I asked the attorney who his client was and he said I was. I instructed him to ONLY put my name on the check. Believe me, I would have NO control over the money. I didn&apos;t wise up for a long time but I finally realized my best interest was not my husband&apos;s concern. This woman knows exactly what would happen without protecting her interests. Absolutely, do not comingle the funds.

  Never discount the power of a spouse who uses strong emotional pressure to control the other. So true that it&apos;s a boundary issue.
