  Great reaction...many tears....I watched this Movie when it first dropped back in 1994 in the theater with my late wife......we were married for 21 years until she passed away from cancer in 2014....This movie always reminds me of her and a special moment in time that we shared once upon a time many years ago

  When Jenny tells Forrest he doesn't know what love is, it's pure projection, she doesn't know what  love is. ❤😊

  Saw this when it dropped in the theater. It hit hard. Got so wrapped up in it that I didn't think about the blue screen etc necessary to remove Gary Sinise's legs. Later it hit me, oh yeah he started out with legs 😂

  When Jenny says "I wanna be a singer like Joan Baez". Joan Baez, that stills alive, is a great american singer, songwriter, and activist, whose contemporary folk music often featured songs of protest or social justice. Baez was girlfriend of Bob Dylan during some years. And when Jenny started to perform in the strip club, her stage name was Bobbi Dylan... and she sang Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan. She also has a Baez´s poster in her room.

  Thanks for the reaction. Don’t have a lot of people to talk to about the movies that I love so deeply. So it really means a lot to be able to watch you guys and other people react to my favorites. Also I noticed throughout the reaction you would say this movie is basically just life distilled and I really like that. One of my favorite things about this movie is that it means so many things. It’s a love letter to the baby boomer generation, it’s speaks on the love between Forrest and Jenny, it speaks on how the people that society deems stupid or unworthy can do the most extraordinary things. It’s truly and incredible film that I feel gets overlooked.

  Good emotional reaction. One of my favorite films. This movie won so many awards. It was so popular a restaurant chain called the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co opened in 1996. I visited the very first restaurant to open in Monterey, CA that year. The menu selection is a variety of food including shrimp related dishes like Bubba spoke about. The inside is decorated with themes from the film. At the time they had a bench like in the film in front of the restaurant with a Forrest statue seated on the bench. People could take pics of themselves next to Forrest while waiting for their reservation to be called.

  I think Jenny was just so deeply broken as a person. The person who is meant to protect you in this world committed the ultimate betrayal of her. And as such a little girl. She just wasn't able to cope. I do think she was trying to preserve the one bright light in her life from what she saw as her darkness. One thing she did do though was try to teach him the one and only survival tool she knew. She told him as a little girl to run and again as a teen. And again going to war. And as an adult with the shoes. Run. That's the one skill she knew. And she wanted to teach her friend her one means of protection to protect HIM.

  When you said he succeeds because he just does as he's told... I think it's a little true but really it's that he takes life as it comes and doesn't get caught up in feeling sorry for himself or in negativity. He focuses on good. And by doing that he makes the people around him better. And his life is filled with the good he's cultivated. Life might actually be that simple and we're all just fighting it. Isn't that something to think about? Are we all just fighting living life well in the truest sense and if we approached it all simply and with hope and kindness we'd all be better off?

  Be kinder to Jenny. She had a much worse childhood than Forest. As a small child, she and her sister were victims of physical and sexual abuse by her father. I never understood how most reactors hated Jenny.

  When they were children, we see that Jenny prays to be turned into birds... while still with her abusive father... we later see how, as an adult, in a scene where she attempts suicide... Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" plays. A very strong parallel. And close to the end at Jenny´s grave... birds fly. And the feather... at the beginning and at the end.

  I say this every time but it&apos;s the truth and it bears repeating. Our Mom looked EXACTLY like Sally Field in this when we were kids, seriously. And still does now as she ages it&apos;s freaky. We were convinced she had a secret movie career. I sincerely cried when she died and it may happen again this time. That&apos;s all I have to say about that...Some think Jenny is a villain in this but she&apos;s just a victim, tragically. Tom Hanks is absolutely brilliant, even when playing a local idiot. When Forrest asks &quot;is he, is he smart?&quot; Absolutely breaks my heart. One of the most clever, hilarious, heartfelt films ever... <br> <br>&quot;Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mamas without any legs. Sometimes they don&apos;t go home at all.
