The difference between your final take and Phoenix’s take is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the character is going through psychologically. You played the Joker as a kind of stereotypical Hollywood psychopath. Joaquin brings up the years of trauma and suffering and being unseen/unheard by everyone around him after being triggered by how he’s being treated once again by Murray as an outsider. He longs for someone to understand him and when once again he’s ridiculed instead of understood, the hurt and rage bubbles over. The “joke” and murder is a release of the anger and pain he has felt all his life on to the system he feels wronged him, not some chilling act of violence for violence’s sake. Nationally broadcast murder is what he does to make sure everyone HAS to hear him when he feels the most unheard.

He is not a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is an injured sheep in wolf’s clothing that finally found some fangs

From what I hear about the lip-licking element, apparently Heath's scar make-up was peeling away at the corners of his mouth, so he was trying to keep it stuck (and then emphasised when they liked it). Since he's doing it for real I think it's tricky to replicate without overdoing it...

For having no scene partner during your take, you did a really great job man.

This series is fascinating! I have no aspirations of becoming a professional actor but it’s just so interesting to learn about ☺️

It’s so generous of you to show these early clips of yourself. It makes me feel less ashamed about my own beginner/intermediate acting goofs. Your channel is so accepting and encouraging of learning and growth. Letting us see you as a beginner sometimes really gives me hope for improving as an actor, too. Thank you
