Firing your lead negotiator over a tie on signing day is peak nepotism. That kid didn’t flex power—he nuked the whole company.

This is a prime example of what I have been saying all along. When CEOs bring their childen into the company. They start at entry level and definitely no authority to fire employees.

A very Disney like ending, totally unreal, really funny in fact. I love these stories!

The CEO should have been relieved of her duties and not just reprimanded.

I my time (about 72 years ago) these golden boys and girls started at the work floor, preferably of another company. Only at the time they had circulated in the whole system of a comparable enterprise, they were ready to enter daddy's company without the risk to destroy it because of ego. A good tutorial for daddys that are concerned about their succession.

No tie before a key meeting? You point at the lowest guy on the totem pole, the bench warmer, and tell him to give the key guy his tie and leave the meeting, then discuss this AFTER the meeting and keep neutral ties in a drawer in the conference room or in the desk of the executive assistant.

My husband was ordered to wear a tie at work. Dress code in an office setting that didn't deal with the public. He complied in protest. For the remainder of his career, he wore a bow tie. He had an eclectic assortment if bow ties.... Christmas, New Years, Valentine's ,St-Patrick's, Easter, any any occasion he could think of.

In my 80 years, I have seen 2nd (and mostly 3rd generation) family members lose interest in family businesses/organizations and eventually gut them to pursue their own interests. Nut Tree in Vacaville, California comes to mind. I find this story rather imaginative as an entitled prince puts the palace in distress until the quiet unassuming knight manages to save it and receive his reward. Thanks for the concept. Well spoke.

Serves the company right. I would have taken them for the maximum sum.
