  This mess could have been easily avoided...<br>One of the main reasons accidents like this happen is you are not compacting the new soil every 1- 2 feet... [with a motorized roller compactor driven equipment]. <br>the uncompacted soil is too soft to handle the weight of a loaded dump truck...<br>you can also prevent the dump trucks from getting too close to the edge by simply having a spotter [on the ground worker] to direct the dump truck driver, telling him when to stop backing up.<br>Otherwise you are just going to continue to work dangerously, risking personnel safety and your expensive equipment and wasting valuable man-hours [that reduce your profit] digging and hauling out equipment instead of accomplishing your work.<br>never enough time to do it right...always enough time to do it over...<br>It pays to do things correctly...<br>It was sad to watch a worker on the ground directing [waving] the bull dozer operator to push his dirt towards him when it was obvious that&apos;s where he was pushing it anyway...where was this guy when the dump truck driver needed him?<br>There is no attention given to worker safety [there was a man in the dump bed] if the crane cable would have snapped he could have easily been thrown and crushed...additionally the onlookers [included children] should have been back at the tree as opposed to being down from the back of the crane...<br>When they were attempting to pull the dump truck up over the bank the guy standing to the left of the cable would have been cut in half in a split second if that cable snapped!<br>My comments are from a lifetime of successful professional experience...if you want to be taken seriously and become successful you must work to an industry standard. Otherwise you will fail.
