Ahhhhhhh braga. Such a beautiful city. Have you made it to guimaraes? That city spoke to us when we came for a visit last year. If we can finally make the move its where we will be at.

Bom Jesus was a beautiful place to visit, for sure! The lake and grotto at the top were a pleasant surprise, hadn't expected them at all when we visited. <br><br>Fun factoid: "És de Braga?" (are you from Braga?) can be used sarcastically to someone who leaves the door open, as a reference to the idea that the Arco da Porta Nova (the Arch of the New Gate) in Braga never had a door installed. <br><br>Other areas that are well worth a visit in the area, whenever you're out and about next: <br><br>- Guimarães, but particularly the Parque da Penha at the top of the mountain next to the city. I highly recommend the Grove Houses next to the park as a place to stay as a little splurge, as it's just breathtakingly beautiful and cozy. The folks at restaurant Casa das Merendas nearby were also incredibly kind; the dona of the restaurant literally never smiled in the two nights we went there, but she went out of her way to take care of us.<br>- Citânia de Briteiros, the remains of an Iron Age Celtic settlement - far bigger than I expected, great for a quiet wander (when we went there we were the only other folks around)
