The first song Stardust is rather close to my heart. When my great grandparents were in high school, way back in the day, my grandmother had a crush on my grandpa. But he had a girlfriend. Back then the girls were not allowed to wear pants to school and their skirts had to be below the knee. One day before class had started, my grandma was turned around in her desk talking to a friend when my grandpa walked by. Her skirt was pulled up, but only right above the knee. My grandpa saw it, however, and without thinking, commented, "Nice leg!" This was the first time he really noticed my grandmother. A little while later, they were attending a high school dance. They danced together to the song Stardust, and that is when they say they fell in love. They dropped out of high school to get married in 1940. He was eighteen, she was seventeen. They are still living happily together in upstate NY and this past August they celebrated their 76 anniversary.

I was young in the early 30s but I remember all of them. Thanks for the memory makes my worn out old heart  throb at each beat.

Im 78 yrs old, lots of people say I could pass for 77. But in my 20's I heard Fats Waller, Ethel Waters, Louis Armstrong, and fell in love with the music of this period. I prefer it slightly to rap.  There was much of this great music in the early movies of the 30's, Kathryn Grayson (I was in love with her, and wrote to her, asking her hand in marriage, but why would she want some high school kid who was unemployed.  Oh, Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler did great fun movies. The musical comedies of the 30's did lack buildings blowing up, car chases with guns blazing,  bloody knife fights, zombies, vampires, profanity, adult sex talk. Other than that, the movies were rather wholesome, and boring to my grandson. Oh, Pee Wee Hunt was a fav of mine, with the muted brass and instruments.

When I cook, I listen to music from the 30's and 40's...  Makes me think of my beautiful grandmother.

I wonder if in the year 5350, we could travel back in time, to live this history over, and over, and over again. What bliss, what endless love it would give me - such ecstasy. Please take me back, to the thirties, where the music scene was full of love and passion.

This month is my home's 86th "birthday", being built in 1930.  So we're having a little housewarming/birthday party.  Thank you for helping it feel comfortable in these strange modern times.

For those who think they don't belong to 2016, this music will take you were you belong! Absolutely great!

People say I am an old soul, they think I belong to the 20's, 30's or so, and to be honest I do feel nostalgic hearing this music

Wish I was alive in the 30's, but that'll never happen, but I have YouTube to listen to this whenever I want so that's not bad

Not my era, but definitely a piece of my musical heart. I wouldn't love what I love to hear and what i love to play as a bassist if it wasn't for these shepherds of swing. Thanks to all of them.
