"insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." I have had bad experiences with modern medicine and I dont expect that to change

the relationship in healthcare unfortunately today in the USA is between the healthcare conglomerate and the insurance provider (payer), not the patient and the doctor.

Firstly, thank you for being a great doctor. It's really difficult to be that busy and still try to commit to the duty of making sure your patient feels comfortable and ok with the situation. Some patients can be a pain to deal with, harmful, mean, etc. A more individualistic lifestyle and more analytic, less holistic approach and the negative consequences of this can be seen in pretty much every branch of society; and the doctor isn't the holy grail. We'd probably first have to look at the schooling system and see what's up there before you try to tackle this as a general practitioner.

I was an R.N. in a hospital before Dr. Norwood was born. I am inclined to say the quiet part out loud. I was diagnosed by my persistence of ASD, CAPD and EDS in my sixties. There is a part of medicine that runs and acts without impunity, hospitals become chop shops, patients are treated depending on how they are perceived as people. That perception most often by people who might look inward , rather than destroy lives based on their own dysfunction

Your doctor is not your doctor; he/she is a representative of healthcare insurance companies. They are the ones treating you not your doctors. How long do we wait for pre-authorizations. Where doctors have to explain to insurance companies that procedures are medically necessary.

The policy makers need to understand what does a medical SYSTEM mean apart from output KPIs, as outcome really matters.

The sentiment is right, but the term, histerical is historical, is the truth you are looking for. Distrust is due to medical trauma and until the medical industry actually truly audits itself fully that will continue to rise. Serious issues happen when medical records are never accurate to begin with, when each Dr holds a different platform, when each platform either changes or gets hacked yearly, when even those platforms can't be shared among the same system. Hospitals and Healthcare systems become so big and that even those systems don't share their own records and data, so huge mistakes happen between a patient being transfered inside that very Hospital. Then there are pharmaceutical errors and side effects and the holy grail medical devices. All this is such a money machine that has so many hands in the pot that even the best of systems causes huge health consequences..and it has become much much worse now that insurance companies have the ability to make the decisions on care based on whether or not a Dr or nurse enters the correct data..the data starts out wrong! It deeply saddens me that Drs are just now having TEDx discussions on trust..or caring. When a patient has been stuck in the rabbit hole of mistakes and NO Dr is even looking at a correct chart or even bothering to fix the mistakes during the 5 minutes in the room the mistrust goes on. The fact that now a person's medical records can be sold with a practice or disappear with no accountability is also disheartening. Our medical data should always be our own for safe keeping, for our lifetime.
