This game is what I thought Alan Wake was for the longest time. As in, I confused them and somehow merged them into one game in my mind. I'm glad I figured it out eventually lmao

I loved the jacket inventory system in this game and still do. I haven't seem it replicated in any other game.

I remember hearing about the demo at E3 or some other trade show on a 1up Podcast talking about the manual blinking and thinking "what a future we are in, we can manually blink, the next step of immersion, first we had watching a real movie (To Kill a Mockingbird) with your girlfriend in The Darkness and now blinking?! The future of games are bright." About a day later I was like "wait... That is stupid, what does that even do?“

18:18 I bolted upright like a sleeper agent being activated hearing "the only person they're cheating is themselves" in a developer interview for Alone in the Dark, 11 years before the Sekiro controversy copypasta.

Gonna be real, I still love that song used during the driving segment: "Who am I?"

Huh, Skyrim looks different in 2025.

Even though lots of folks still know of Alone in the Dark's significance and contribution to both gaming and survival horror as a whole, I feel the series was never given a proper chance to reestablish itself after the original trilogy. The long gaps between the rebooted releases that came after was just not sustainable to keep the series going. The 2001 game had decent foundation to take series in a modern day setting direction and was planned as the beginning of a new trilogy before getting scrapped due to under performing sales. The 2008 game is a spectacular disaster and still very memorable for all the wrong reasons. The 2015 game is a classic "what were they thinking" decision. While the 2024 game is easily the best game in series since 2001, and where the series should've naturally evolved towards to, if not for the massive misfires of both the 2008 and 2015 games. It came too little too late to give the series a firm foundation to get revitalized and grow. One can only imagine a timeline where Alone in the Dark is thriving and competitive alongside Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

I brought it day 1 on 360. Apart from the ending, I really enjoyed it

I had this game on 360... and for some reason, the first scene where you had the car, racing around town while the city was shattering and falling apart, you had to go off a ramp, to trigger a cut scene, to progress.... no matter what ever i did, i never could make it over the gap.. the game would break every time and crash... This would only happen on my gamer profile/ game save. I would load the disk up on a friends system, and it would work every time.. now i know that it was the deceleration from the angle i was landing.
