Was having a hard time believing how terrible this looks with a 3080ti and steamVR. Was flipling all the switches just to try making it not look like a PS2 game. After rolling my eyes several times, I finally took the plunge to get Virtual Desktop. And, I kid you not, the first run I made looked and felt miiiiles better! I didnt even bother tweaking yet, it's that big a jump!

Really good video! Thanks for saving me £1900. I nearly went to buy a pimax, bought a Q3 instead… works great! Will try these setting! Thanks again! Keep up the good work!

    2 things:
1. The subjective perception of fps is tricked to believe it is better than it is in a HMD, which is a good thing. Yes, the game itself may run at crap fps, but your head/view rotates and pivots at the HMD's native framerate, making your presence feel smooth. Of course if your rig is challenged to the point that black bars appear when turning your head then that's a different story. This all leads to...
2. Turn off your UI/GUI. The static elements (which are part of the game) trying to keep up with your head-movements will make it feel like a stuttery mess that makes brain go ow-ow. Disable it and be surprised. It's basically the difference between your brain going "Other things are moving kinda strange in this world" and "There's something wrong with me, help!", you want the former.

I've been waiting for this. Hoping it gets my Granddaughter into the game.

I think the best thing to do would be to put VD res as close to your headsets 'native' resolution and then use upscaling to get the performance you want.

adjusting FOV tangent to 90% in vr desktop gives you alot more headroom at very high.

Thanks SO MUCH for testing this out, without knowing which settings to change I probably would have given up. I've got a Quest 3s, a Ryzen 7800X3d, 32gb ddr5 ram, and a 5060Ti 16gb, and even then without your settings it was unplayable after 10 minutes. I'd get sick. Too bad the dev responsible for VR won't be able to get to it until the end of the year. I can't figure out how to play FPS b/c I can't go into aiming mode, have to close one eye and move my head to get the right direction. I'm going to try adding a laser pointer on my rifles and use that to aim, see if that works. But damn! VR makes going back to 2d monitor play feel archaic. It really spoiled me. Thanks again.

Please tell me! I'm playing on the hts vive headset, and I don't know how to adjust the helmet's HUD, which displays the compass, ship status, and character. I want to stretch it out to the edges, but it's getting in the way in the center of the screen. Can you help me with that?
