Surah An-Nisa (The Women)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ⬇️
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer. (1) And give And give to the orphans their property, and do not exchange the bad for the good, and do not consume their property by combining it with your own. Indeed, that is a great sin. (2) And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphans, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly, then marry only one or what your right hands possess. That is more suitable to prevent you from being unjust. (3) And give the women their dowries as a free gift. But if they, of their own accord, remit any part of it to you, then enjoy it with pleasure and satisfaction. (4) And do not give the foolish your property which God has made a right for you. God is your protector. Provide for them therein and clothe them and speak to them words of kindness. (5) And test the orphans until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgment, release their property to them. And do not consume it extravagantly or hastily. They grow up. And whoever is rich should abstain [from taking inheritance], and whoever is poor should eat reasonably. And when you hand over their property to them, have witnesses present. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant. (6) For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave. Parents and close relatives, whether it be little or much, have an obligatory share. (7) And when relatives, orphans, and the needy are present at the distribution, give them a share of it and speak to them kindly. (8) And let those [who would] fear [God] who, if they left behind them [any] offspring... Those who are weak and fear for them should fear God and speak words of appropriate guidance. (9) Indeed, those who unjustly consume the property of orphans only consume fire into their bellies, and they will be burned in a blazing Fire. (10) God instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females. If there are more than two women, they shall inherit two-thirds of what he leaves. If there is only one, she shall inherit half. And for his parents, to each one of them, is a sixth of what he leaves if he has a child. But if he has no child and his parents are his heirs, then for his mother is a third. And if he has brothers, then for his mother is a sixth of what he leaves. After any bequest your fathers or sons may have made, or any debt they may have incurred—you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit—this is an obligation from Allah. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. (11) And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is a quarter of what they leave. After any bequest they may have made or debt. And for them is a quarter of what you leave if you have no child. But if you have a child, for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you may have made or debt. And if a man or woman dies leaving neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or sister, then for each one... Of them, one-sixth. But if they are more than that, they share equally in one-third, after any bequest he may have made or debt, provided it is not intended to harm anyone. This is an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing. (12) These are the limits set by Allah. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow. (13) And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into a Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment. (14) And those of your women who commit adultery - call to witness against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify So confine them to their homes until death takes them or Allah ordains for them a way out. (15) And those of you who commit adultery, punish them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (16) Repentance is only accepted by Allah from those who do evil. (17) But repentance is not accepted of those who [persist in] doing evil deeds until, when death approaches one of them, he says, “Indeed, I have repented now,” nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. Those [who do not] repent. We have prepared for them a painful punishment. (18)
