¿Por Qué Domesticamos la Vaca Pero JAMÁS al Ciervo?

Why did we domesticate the cow 10,000 years ago but could NEVER domesticate the deer? The answer isn't force. It's fear. And it changed the fate of entire civilizations. We've been hunting deer for over 400,000 years, long before we could speak or control fire. Yet the animal that allowed itself to be domesticated—the aurochs, the ancestor of the cow—is now extinct, while the deer, which resisted at every biological level, survives by the millions on every continent. In this video, we explore the biology of domestication: capture myopathy, the absence of social hierarchy in cervids, seasonal rut, Belyayev's fox experiment, and why the reindeer is the only exception. A story about evolution, ancient animal husbandry, and how a few animals shaped the rise of cities, agriculture, and empires. 📚 RESEARCH SOURCES • Bollongino, R. et al. (2012).
