One thing that was not mentioned is the positive psychological impact of climbing. No other sport has given me this feeling of being completely zoned out from the day to day life. When I'm in the climbing gym, my mind goes to sport and puzzle solving and everything else phases out. Add to that the automatic gamification element where you always make progress on something measurable (from one more move on a problem you're working on to being able to do more climbs of a grade to leveling up to the next grade) and it's a powerful combination. The climbing community is also really friendly and helpful compared to say your average gym.

12:40 "elite climbers can grip 140 lbs., around the weight of a komodo dragon." Ah yes, thanks for the relatable example

I've never met more supportive people than climbers. It's such a rewarding experience.

"Around the weight of a Komodo Dragon." - well, that makes the value quite clear. Everyone moves Komodo Dragons around daily, don't they?

Quoting people dying on K2 is slightly misleading since it's mountaineering, not climbing

I recently got into climbing and it's been the best thing for my mental, physical, and emotional health. It's a new hobby and I absolutely love it.

For 28 years of my life I never thought I could genuinely love doing a physical sport.
Then I randomly decided to try climbing/bouldering for my birthday, I've been obsessed ever since.
It's incredibly ADHD-friendly and builds functional strength as well.

I was expecting some clickbait BS but this ended up actually being very informative and well presented. I feel like any beginner that’s getting into climbing should watch this. Nice job!
