I chose to have a c-section with my second baby after having a vaginal delivery with my first baby. The first birth left me with prolapse and incontinence which left me needing very painful surgery to fix various prolapses. C-sections can be the best option at times depending on your circumstances.

I had an elective c-section at 37 weeks because of placenta previa. During surgery, they also discovered that I had endometriosis. Luckily, it all went well. I'm so grateful to God and my gynecologist.

There can also be issues that arise that are not foreseen while you’re laboring. Either is hard and not risk free whether vaginal or cesarean so choose what you are most comfortable with.

I tried for a vaginal birth my first labor, but my nurse would not administer epidural for me for like her entire shift. She kept giving me pain meds or laughing gas and I was all over the place because I felt unheard or unseen. Right after she got off, the new nurse came in gave me epidural right away and my contractions really subsided. By then I was already about 16 hours in labor. By 3AM I had to do an emergency C-Section bc of fetal distress. After postpartum, I was discharged and 3 hours later had an infection, not on my cesarean scar but more inside of me , I had a high fever and chills. So overall, my first labor was traumatic eventhough I got an infection after C-section my next baby I told my OBGYN i am going for a c-section this time bc at least I have a say this time, since my experience with that one nurse was not good at all.

Had 3 c sections due to back surgery injury as a teenager, first baby at 25, then 28, 34. I couldn't have kids without c sections. Alll 3 pregnancy were high risk, premature babies 34 weeks. Rush in Chicago was amazing with my health issues.

After four laparotomies due to severe endometriosis I became pregnant with just a tiny piece of ovary. Left HUP fertility clinic behind and went back to my beloved OB/GYN. I told him to pencil me in for my CS. To my dismay he said no because I'd been cut open enough and had so much scar tissue.

After 28 hours in labor and what was to be a dry birth the baby was in danger. Contractions and trying to break the water that was so scant I could say that was a piece of cake. Endometriosis pain was worse. Got an epidural and since it was a minute to 12 asked which day I wanted my baby to be born. It was a happy atmosphere in the OR. My 9 pound daughter was born. I was up and about 8 hours later. Got to go home early. For once I got a baby out of getting cut open. The biggest plus is I got to keep the same vagina I always had and didn't have to push an entire person out like my mother and grandmom before me. Thank you to all the magnificent surgeons who ensure safe births.

Both my first birth and second birth were c-sections. It was an up and down incision rather then a bikini cut. My abdominal muscles have never been the same since. This was in 1980 and 1983.

My first child was born with emergency C-section at week 32.5 due to complications with the baby heart rate dropping. But earlier in that pregnancy there were other problems like short cervix, dilation, but the reason for the early delivery was the baby's heart rate. My second baby was born 3 years later at 39.5 weeks and the doctors convinced me to go for vaginal delivery. I got normal contractions, I don't know why the doctor broke my water, he probably was in a hurry or something. I didn't have time to take the epidural, she came out in 20 min. But the pain, oh my gosh!!! I got vaginal stitches, hemorrhoids, it was so difficult to use the bathroom after that, plus I got anemia since I lost blood. The only thing I remember from the C section was pain getting out of bed and longer bleeding. Pro's and Cons for each, I cant say I prefer one over the other. But I'm done with kids anyway.

Hi! In Chile (and most Latin America) we are close to 70% of C-section in average (up to 80% in private hospitals, as the female doctor said "If you are going to pay, you are going to pay for what you want). We are at a point where doctors and staff don't longer know how to perform V-birth.

Kudos to you for standing by shared decision making, I hope the majority of doctors if not all follow that philosophy. BTW if 4% of all births are CBMR and 35% of all deliveries are C-section then 4/35 = 11% of C-sections are CBMR.

I have had both. My first ended in an emergency c section after 161/2 hour labour. 2nd vacuum and forceps delivery. 3rd lower forceps and last birth natural. My c section was very painful the first few days. Would prefer my other births over my c section any day.
