The flag in the picture “Prisoners at the Front” is not a surrender flag.  The Civil War saw the adoption of Corps Badges. This flag is the red trifoil symbol on a white flag of the 1st Division of the 2d Corps, Army of the Potomac. You will also see the red trifoil symbol on the kepi hat of the Union soldier guarding the prisoners. Hope this helps.

That was really a wonderful, informative presentation as I knew little about Homer.  It kept me quite riveted for the duration. Thank you Sir.

An informative talk about a brilliant painter. He was a great inspiration to Wyeth, particularly in his travels. His paintings whilst at Cullercoats are of particular interest in terms of chronicling the hard life of the fishermen and herring girls who lived and worked there.<br>I can’t believe that there are only 3 or 4 of his paintings in Europe. A major oversight I’d say.

Interesting presentation of an artist I admire - but my perception is that, especially early on, you took his bones and added flesh to suit what you wanted to believe. &nbsp;Unless Homer had written these explanations himself, your take is at best possible and at worse, total whimsy.
