I have loved Eliot's poetry for half a century and gone through periods where I also read a lot of the critical and biographical material. This is quite simply the most insightful talk about "Four Quartets" I have ever listened to or read. I can't help but imagine Eliot overhearing the talk feeling finally understood in a deep and quite complete way. If I had to recommend a single critical work on the "Four Quartets" this would be it. Truly a beautiful job on this one.

They didn't leave for an adventure.
They were forced out.
Still, I can enjoy a long forgotten Romantic.

This is a superb lecture. It’s informative, but, also, retains the transformative quality of the Four Quartets. Beautiful.

This is the best kind of lecture! You gave the gift of understanding with such humility that I went right back to the poems and loved them better than before. Thank you!!!
