  Okay, it&apos;s one thing to ask her if she speaks Japanese, or to speak to her in English without knowing. But the people who insist of speaking to her in English even after she tells then she speaks Japanese... That&apos;s exhausting

  It&apos;s crazy, I always hoped it would get better. I&apos;m also half Japanese half Black and my Japanese mother said the reason we didn&apos;t stay in Japan is because she was afraid our lives would be too hard socially. She didn&apos;t want her children to be ostracized so we were essentially raised in America. I&apos;m almost 60 now and my mother has long since passed and neither me nor my brothers can remember how to speak Japanese anymore!
