I was born when this aired, almost 39 years ago. It's trippy to think the people were watching this while my parents were coming home from the hospital with me, and had no idea what the future would bring.

Looks like Sandra got a true laugh out of Dave with the "sex kitten" joke. :D

The event Dave is referring to in the opening monologue is Liberty Weekend, from July 3-6 1986, which Wikipedia describes "a four-day celebration held to mark the 1984–86 restoration and the centenary of the Statue of Liberty."

Also, the University of Illinois at Chicago was known as "the Flames" after 1981, so either Mr. Eric Warshaw was mistaken about his school's name or he was a staff plant.

I was a teenager when this aired. It feels so weird to me that this is a period piece now. The hair and clothes on that guy with the weightlifting story...

 Two hundred Elvis impersonators. Wow.

Also, I was in the city for this weekend (and the week before and after) doing a paramedic internship with the late, lamented NYC*EMS ... So lots and lots of memories ...

"We want to pierce that flat TV screen." --Dave, not apparently realizing TV screens wouldn't be flat for another decade.

I miss this Dave. Anthony Perkins was great as always. To play Norman and come out the other side must have been a mind twister. I think he did it four times.
