Thank God for Richard Rohr! This is the story of the God I believe in - the God and Father of our Saviour and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ - where God gave God's-Self - not requiring our sacrifice. This really is a Transformation, rather than a Transaction! Glory be to God!
No longer God's Wrath. Rather, God's LOVE is the answer.

I left fundamentalist Christianity about 3 years ago and have been mostly extremely angry with my old faith. Flirting with atheism.

This man makes me want to be a Franciscan Catholic. This guys stuff moves me in a way I have not felt in a long time.

Yes. Death is part of the deal. Let the small self pass away in favour of God's will and the "new man", the new heaven and the new earth, perhaps.

Glad to hear Richard Rohr's views. Finding myself in an Anglican church in England, it strikes me how maybe a lot of what's wrong in British society comes from the idea that God the Father is a bit of an ogre, whilst there's a clear message in the beatitudes - "blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - is NOT what THEY think. God lifts up and purifies and makes divine those He chooses through Theosis in the transformative energies of Christ. Not that anyone can earn their way into Heaven.

 "Much more attractive"
This sounds a lot like the temptation in Eden.

This "christ consciousness" stuff of Rohr is not biblical truth. He uses slippery language to twist and distort the message of Scripture to make people feel eloquently comfortable, but he is changing definitions and very slickly using the mask of Christianity to hide behind in order to pull people closer to the self and further from the Creator
Colossians 2:8
"See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ."

God spilling blood to get to us. That's why Jesus called the new covenant in His blood.
