I have followed Layne’s content for years and years. What I really appreciate about him is his ability to say he has changed his opinion and explain why.

I always come back to Layne as a trustworthy source of lifting and nutrition info. Over the course of decades I've never seen him fall for fads or sell out for useless supplements so I appreciate the solid approach rooted in science.

<b>Key Points to Remember After You Watch The Video. (Thank Me Later):</b><br>1. Fasting (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=87">0:01:27</a>) is overrated for fat loss because it is not better than just eating fewer calories throughout the day, and extreme fasting can cause you to lose muscle mass.<br><br>2. Low carb diets (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=436">0:07:16</a>) are overrated because they do not make you lose more fat than other diets as long as your total calories and protein intake are the same.<br><br>3. Eating whole foods (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=641">0:10:41</a>) is underrated because they have lots of volume and make it hard to overeat, which helps you stay full and lose weight naturally.<br><br>4. Worrying about eating carbs at night (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=744">0:12:24</a>) is overrated because when you eat your carbs does not change how much fat you lose, only your total daily calories matter.<br><br>5. Cardio (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=874">0:14:34</a>) is properly rated because it helps you burn extra calories and is a great tool for losing fat when you do not eat back all the calories you just burned.<br><br>6. Resistance training (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=965">0:16:05</a>) is very underrated because it helps you build muscle, which actually requires your body to burn stored fat for energy while you are in a diet.<br><br>7. Doing circuit training or group classes (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1072">0:17:52</a>) is slightly overrated for building muscle, so you should make sure you also include intense lifting that is close to failure.<br><br>8. Diet breaks (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1124">0:18:44</a>) are overrated because while they help you feel better and might slightly lower metabolic adaptation, they do not have magical properties that prevent all weight loss issues.<br><br>9. Protein intake (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1288">0:21:28</a>) is properly rated because it helps you keep your muscle while dieting and helps you feel full, but you do not need to overdo it with processed protein snacks.<br><br>10. Meal timing (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1433">0:23:53</a>) is mostly overrated because you do not need to eat at specific times or a specific number of times per day to change your metabolic rate.<br><br>11. Artificial sweeteners (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1471">0:24:31</a>) are underrated because they can help you replace high calorie sugary drinks and stick to your diet without causing insulin spikes.<br><br>12. Weighing yourself (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3bwABb8d5Q&t=1870">0:31:10</a>) is underrated because it gives you important data to see if you are on track and helps you change your habits if your weight starts going up.<br><br>I hope I can get to 1 million subscribers soon. 💪💪💪

So what you say feels right. We all have our personal experience with fat loss and what I hear here feels kinda true to me and consistent with what I have experienced .

I used to be a firm believer that the types of foods you ate were more important than the calories...and stayed fat. After I counted calories for fat loss...like magic, the weight came off and stayed off as long as I stayed below my maintenance calories.

Thanks Layne, I've tried a lot of these things and what worked for me was resistance training, walking, low calorie and GLP-1, I finally lost the weight and gained muscle. I also use artificial sweeteners sporadically. But it's nice to hear from you on these topics.

Love this format 😅 honestly the overrated stuff is what kept me stuck for years. I was doing all the "right" things everyone recommends and my body just kept holding onto weight. Felt like such a failure. Then a friend dealing with the same hormonal mess told me about Menopause Transition Playbook by (Lisa.Grant) and everything shifted. 27 lbs down now, my digestion healed, and those middle-of-the-night wake ups stopped completely. Funny how the real answers aren't the popular ones.
