I'll never understand how Maynard got such a bright vocal tone while hunched over and moving like a posessed doll

This is peak Maynard. The stop motion movements, the hypnotic swaying, the brooding crouching, the head swirls, the screams, the raw power in his voice that just carries perfectly into the mix. Incredible. This to me is the best tool song ever written.

You ever think Maynard gets surprised by how cool they sound? Like has he ever been waiting for the lyrics to Start and thinking “holy shit this is sounding sick”

The fact that they ever did this song live is incredible. IMO their most ambitious song from their greatest era.
