10 Most MYSTERIOUS Disappearances of CALIFORNIA (MUST WATCH)

California looks like a dream on a map. Coastlines that go on forever. National parks the size of small countries. Campgrounds tucked into desert rock. College towns wrapped in golden hills. The places people plan for, save for, drive toward with the windows down. Then one day, someone takes a wrong turn, walks out a door, or vanishes mid-step — and the map stops being beautiful. Today we're covering ten of them — from a three-year-old girl in flip-flops at Joshua Tree whose scent trail ran two miles through the desert and stopped dead at a paved road while three witnesses who came forward about her kidnapper were found murdered within months, to a Cal Poly freshman whose dorm room four independent cadaver dogs flagged for human decomposition six weeks after she vanished — and whose killer wasn't arrested for twenty-five years, a backcountry ranger who spent twenty-eight seasons in the High Sierra, left his gun on the shelf and a note with the wrong month on the door, and was found five years later in a creek bed with his pack waist belt still buckled, a thirty-year wilderness veteran who left his pack in terrain the National Park Service called extremely rugged and hazardous and walked further in with only a water bottle and a map — triggering the most expensive single-person search in Yosemite history and still hasn't been found, a psychology graduate released from a Malibu sheriff's station at twelve twenty-eight in the morning with no phone, no money, and no car while the station's surveillance cameras weren't working — found eleven months later six miles away with cause of death listed as undetermined, a twenty-year-old actress whose gray Honda sat on the Pacific Coast Highway with its lights on, battery dead, phone and cash on the seat, and not a trace of her anywhere in the surrounding terrain, a sixteen-year-old who walked south on a desert highway in a white t-shirt holding a piece of paper nobody has ever identified while scent dogs tracked her to the asphalt and stopped, a twenty-one-year-old who sent a text from a canyon overlook saying something crazy is going on and that he wanted to talk while he had the chance — and whose car was found that night with a damaged trunk lock and a 911 caller reporting screams, a Canadian hiker whose wife waited at the Joshua Tree trailhead in July heat for a husband who walked into the desert and never came back, and a seventy-four-year-old whose pack turned up seven miles from his campsite three years later under a fallen tree in wilderness that had been part of the park for three weeks. Ten cases. California. And in every one of them, a last confirmed moment — and then nothing.
