  Our cats LOVE the cold, they will sleep anywhere where it's cold... sinks... downstairs where there is a draft, windowsills where its cold etc. The stay away from warmth

  Yes, cats are obligate carnivores, but that doesn't mean they can't or don't eat plants.  House cats will eat grass when they need to cough up hairballs and can be fed pumpkin with their food to combat hairballs.  They also sometimes enjoy and benefit from broccoli, which supposedly resembles the digested plant matter a house cat might consume while eating a prey animal.  Also, I'm pretty sure any cat will eat insects, just like the rusty spotted cat.  I'm sure it's just that it's only a very small wildcat who can make hunting bugs intentionally worth the hunting energy in celeries, and for whom they play an essential dietary role.  But even the biggest cats eat whatever's easy that they sense they can eat, so even that's just a guess.  Cats are really careful about evaluating food and water sources though, which is probably one way they show that they are a good bit closer to wild self-sufficiency than dogs.

  Sand cats aren't the only cats who drink the blood of their prey.  House cats eat everything, and this "hydration through prey" idea is often cited as the instinct root of why house cats may easily dehydrate.  As far as I know, all cats that eat for food will eat all of prey that they can, leaving perhaps bones and fur only.
