  I love organized crime from a business and logistical standpoint, not necessarily from a moral standpoint because there is nothing moral about crime, organized or not, but from a business standpoint of the demand and supply of certain goods and services-prostitution, narcotics, gun running, gambling, bookmaking, loansharking, protection rackets, and sophisticated ways of embezzlement from multiple bank accounts, all of which is immoral and wrong and I will never take part in that life, but the fact these guys-the Mafia, Russian Mob, Chinese Triads, Japanese Yakuza, and other groups can put together complex and sophisticated criminal networks, pull off major money making schemes, evade law enforcement, and make sure that these criminal organizations operate like a well oiled machine for decades is impressive to me. Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegal, Lucky Luciano, Frank Costello, Joe Bonanno, Carlo Gambino, and Tommy Lucchese were able to sit atop these organized crime families, make tons of money, stay out of jail, and die wealthy men. But the guys who came after them, not so much. Most of them either got killed or died in prison.

  Paul was a very intelligent man. He had a master business brain which allowed him to corner the construction market in New York City. Plus he controlled the meat packing district, and massive food and beverage distribution networks businesses he owned and hsi control of the labor unions. The Mafia in New York City was riding high under Big Paul, but it collapsed under GOTTI.

  On a cold dark night in December 1985 ten days before Christmas, Paul Castellano along with Tommy Bilotti were executed outside Sparks Steakhouse in New York City. I was living in South Philadelphia on the night the event occurred. And I instantly understood the killers had violated the sacred code of honor and desecrated the body and spirit of Don Carlo's family.
