Take it from a Syrian, this is by far the best description of Syrian history of the past 15 years

Absolutely compelling. Watched it transfixed all the way through. Fantastic to see interviewers giving a guest all the time they need.

An entire Middle East politics course delivered in less than 2 hours. Very comprehensive and so interesting the way Thomas Small connects the dots. From his pronunciation of Arabic names and places my guess is he’s an Arabic speaker. Brilliant episode - I learned a huge amount. Thanks so much.

As a syrian "originally allawite" I salute you guys for this amazing detailed, informative and rational analysis of what happened in syria from the start of the leadership of one of the worst dictators in the history of the rigeion tell the fall of his son bashar al assad .. I would like also to give a brief image from the prespective of a minority like myself it's indeed an unimaginably complicated situation we live in today ... we have saw what limits of darkness can a humanbeing reach and we are so exhausted of this conflict that is controled by the name of relegion to serve someones perposes but overall I'd like to say that we've seen it all and all what we can do is to hope for the under the new government .. till we can start an ACTUAL live .. and just I wanted to say that what realy worries me is not the minorities but the amount of beatifull minds that are endengered and trapped in this cell

This conversation was astonishing. I enjoyed every second. It could just as easily have been a lecture. This man is so knowledgeable, i could sit and listen for hours. Great choice of guest guys, stuff like this is the reason i watch so often. I wish i could afford to donate to this noble channel.

Wow what a monologue and description of Syria, which I have known much about, but he really explained new things in a way which is very pleasant. I can’t believe he’s just talking about this with no cheat sheets!

Shout out to the "conflicted" podcast. I have never in my life thought I would pay to listen to two dudes talking, until I heard those two. The podcast is invaluable and insightful, everybody should check it out right now.
They are amazing people and present very complicated history with a rare clarity and they have insight not a lot of westerners do. You really get the feel for the forces and the drama that move history, not just recounting of the facts.

While I'm listening to him, I remember everything I went through as a Syrian and how all of this affect my life and ruined my childhood
I hope that one day the world will start to see us as a human we're not just numbers.

I think for an episode like this one, it would have been a good idea to begin with why the person being interviewed might be considered to have insights on the subject matter worth listening to.
