Bonus details in these tweets for Bamboolzer, Crab Tank, Hero Shot, and both Stringers.
https://twitter.com/ryzoluca/status/1603065541542936577
https://twitter.com/JoeCool_WiiU/status/1603070266825113600
Also something had to slip and in this case it was the special only on 2 weapons. Inkjet seems pretty obviously based off jetpacks but if anyone has extra details about it, feel free to mention in the replies. Comments have pointed out the back looks like a coffee machine, and inkjet is named after a printer type.
Also yes Reefslider is an Akira slide.

This video is the reason why I love Splatoon's Unique weapon choices. They aren't normal, they're goofy, casual items that are tuned to be "weapons"

Actually I would say that crab tank makes me think about bakugan, a toy which is a sphere but could change into an animal if contacted to metal.

One more thing about the Grizzco Stringer: the nozzles resemble the shape of the Big Dipper constellation when aiming, which is part of the Ursa Major constellation - also known as the Big Bear

12:10 Given how quick and blink you'll miss it the explanation big bubbler was I'd like to state more details of it. It's a Beyblade launcher, more specifically a Right Spin Light Launcher sold and used at the beginning years of the Burst iteration. And instead of a Beyblade it launches a twirl fan which are known to have less descent than a normal one.

Also for Dapple Dualies, I believe they’re a reference to the dappling technique in art, which can be performed by flicking a toothbrush covered in paint. That’s also why their alternative kit had Nouveau in the name, as all the art inspired weapons have Nouveau in their name (Tri Slosh, Inkbrush, Octobrush, Ballpoint)

Not only is splatoon a unique game but the weapons are unique too, also both the flingza and squeezer are made by the same brand thus both having a long range and short range function, and the middle of the splat bomb is actually a fish bag

I love to think when the humans went extinct the Inklings found all the stuff left behind and just converted them into weapons. It’s probably outright mentioned and canon in game in one of the sunken scrolls or something but I don’t remember.

One of my favorite 'references' is that when you dodge roll with the dualies squelchers, your inkling/octoling holds them together in the shape of the Dual Squelcher from Splatoon 1

Fun fact: the tetra dualies are not just based off of the shoes, the gun is also based off of a 45-70 derringer survival gun, it has two chambers and the gun has 2 separate mini ink tanks in each dualie

Some other little bonus details I think are fun:

The Aerosprays names, the MG, RG, and PG, are references to Gundam Force figurines, which are referred to in various "grades" based on scale. MG = Master Grade, 1:100 models, RG = Real Grade, 1:144 models, and PG = Perfect Grade: 1:60 models. As for why there's a Gundam reference there, well, customizing those models using paint from an airbrush a a pretty popular thing in the Gundam fandom especially over in Japan. Over here the in the west, we do the same, though it's more popular with Warhammer 40K models to my knowledge.

While the N-Zap '85 references the NES Zapper's original release in 1985. They were released again with a new orange colour in 1989, hence the name N-Zap '89. The N-Zap '83 refers not to an actual NES Zapper, but rather the release date of the original Famicom, which was in 1983. Its look is also themed after the Famicom's gold and red colouring.

Specifically the Ballpoint Splatling is a reference to a specific variety of ballpoint pen which contains multiple different colours of ink. They're very popular with kids.

The reason the Tetra Dualies are based off shoes is because they're manufactured by Tentatek, the clothing brand, which mainly sells shoes (though they have some clothes and headgear as well like all clothing brands.) Notably Tentatek doesn't make the Tentatek Splattershot, it's just a sponsored collab with the weapon brand, Splat.

The Hero Shot was based on the P90 in Splatoon 2, but it's not based on a specific gun with its 3 design. The .52 and .96 Gal are also based on a Milkor MGL grenade launcher, just using a water cooler jug instead of a cylinder. The Tetra Dualies are also based on double-barrel derringer pistols.
