“Official Lyrics & English Translation”

———

Hum teri raah mein mit jayenge, socha hai yahi
Dard-mandon-e-mohabbat ka tareeqa hai yahi

Upon your path, let every trace of us be lost, this we have chosen
Those who carry love’s wound have always walked this way

Aap hon pesh-e-nazar, rooh jo tan se nikle
Ae meri jaan, meri aankhon ki tamanna hai yahi

When our souls slip from our bodies, let our gaze rest upon you
O life of ours, our eyes have kept this one desire

Ho gaya aam mohabbat ka meri afsana
Ab to jis bazm mein ja baithiye, charcha hai yahi

The tale of our love now wanders from mouth to mouth
Whichever gathering we enter, it is there before us

Koocha-e-yaar mein kho jaane ko hum aaye hain
Raasta marhala-e-ishq ka seedha hai yahi

We came to the Beloved’s lane to leave no trace of ourselves
Through all the stations of love, no road runs straighter than this

Dil mein Allah ka ghar, aankhon mein Hazrat ki jagah
Mera Kaaba hai yahi, mera Madina hai yahi

Our hearts, the dwelling of Allah, our eyes, a home for the one we revere
Here is our Kaaba, here, our Madina

Behr-e-zakhkhar mohabbat ki nahin milti thaah
Jis mein hum doobne wale hain, woh dariya hai yahi

Love is a sea in tumult, no one has fathomed its depths
These are the waters in which we shall disappear

Ghaur se qatre ki janib jo nazar ki to khula
Hum use qatra ghalat samjhe the, dariya hai yahi

We gazed into the drop, and the veil fell away
What we had called a drop was the ocean all along

———
