Can confirm about the boudoir. A member of the family served in Russia during WW2 after the invasion of that country, and he mentioned having seen a private palace of Catherine's which was - shall we say dissolute. One thing: The Bolshevik preserved their past instead of destroying it, as happened in other things after the October Revolution. He always thought highly of that.
