  Just hearing that he willingly took a pay cut to prevent layoffs just cements him as a true leader rather than a boss

  I like the Switch 2 a lot especially now after what Sony and Microsoft are doing as of lately. However, it still feels empty and hollow in the gaming industry without Satoru Iwata.<br><br>He was responsible for Pokemon Gold and Silver, made sure no layoffs were done during the Wii U era, and helped permanently changed Nintendo&apos;s mindset in making game consoles for the better.<br><br>Satoru Iwata was truly one of the GOATs in gaming and I still miss him daily.

  I miss leaders like Iwata. We need more people leading with integrity and conviction. He was not anti company, or anti business but realized sustainability is greater than short term growth.

  I&apos;m not even a nintendo fan and I miss him. He really is a legend and is the reason why Nintendo are as strong as they are and releasing so many bangers over the years, and when he was gone something clearly changed.

  Iwata was hated by investors and by the Financial area of Nintendo because he wasn&apos;t rushing stuff and making &quot;yearly profits&quot; like today, but he had a very clear vision of the future of the gaming industry; he had something devs don&apos;t have anymore: knowledge, resolve, conviction and, most importantly, passion for gaming. He prioritized relationships with all Nintendo&apos;s divisions, with devs like Yoshikashi Koizumi, Eiji Aonuma and Masahiro Sakurai that were close friends with him, and still, even after the disaster of the WiiU, he pushed through, even cutting his salary to maintain that philosophy, and to this day, his last development, the Switch, is the most successful console ever.<br><br>Side note, but all Switch Pro Controllers have a hidden message &quot;THXTOALLGAMERFANS!&quot; written, which I wholeheartedly believe was a decision made by Iwata before passing; he truly was one of a kind and too pure for this world.

  I didn&apos;t realize how much I missed having Iwata around. Entertainment in general feels more soulless now than ever before. This may be why consumers are so attracted to indie projects (in both film and games). The passion is clearly visible in the final product. Iwata brought so much joy to industry, which is something we really need right now. Great video!

  him passing and reggie resigning within four years of each other right before the switch is one of the worst things to happen to nintendo&apos;s core values. rip iwata, we didn&apos;t know what we had until it was gone

  The two hardest hits Nintendo has ever taken was the untimely death of Gunpei Yokoi and the untimely death of Satoru Iwata. Two unbelievably passionate people who wanted to make great things, not just great profits.
