Completely agree report should be based what you can actually hear not what the S meter shows

That's a great topic Mr. Waters. I agree with you on your comments about giving signal reports during contests is just giving a 5 9 and most people do that to make the QSO as short as possible.<br><br>So it's good practice to tweak our transmitter's EQ during regular general use, so we're not worried about receiving accurate signal reports...... we'll already know that our transceivers are performing the best it can.<br><br>Thank you for the video and all you do for us here.<br><br>Stay safe, happy hamming, and 73's Everyone 😁😎

I think it is funny when one tunes in and hears a contest.<br>There is a huge number of requests for call signs.<br>Afterwards, there is a statement that the call report is '5/9.'<br>Clearly, the signals are not '5/9' based on the huge number of requests for call sign re-transmission.

I bought a XIEGU VK-6 from you last week, a good key and I'm very pleased with it. I see you have no stock now, I must have bought the last one!

If I can have good old QSO that’s good enough 😊

Thank you for this video; it has helped me to rethink the topic of S-Meters and signal strength. 73, Jared ~ AC7WH

This is helpful. I am not a die hard contester. I will take the time to give a 5 7 or a 4 3 9 in a contest

Excellently put, great content!

To be honest, Peter, I ignore the S-meter on all of my radios, unless I'm looking at if my noise floor has improved or got worse. <br>I've always used my ears for the actual signal reports.<br>Thanks for the great video.

Great video, most of the time from 40, 80 160m because of floor noise and QRM I attenuate the signal, problem is when I forget and give them a report it could be similar to what they give me; being a foundation licence holder it could look suspicious!

Bravo Sir. Excellent production.<br>Alpha Delta aerial switch fanboy here.<br>I have the 5 port model for over 20 years.<br>I can switch from vertical to horizontal on resonant aerial's with a swat, or change bands the same way.<br>The grounding position is a definite plus in any installation.<br>I've had other makes that the contacts failed in short time.<br>Cheers.
