  The Palace was way way better than Little Ceasars  Arena. You didn't feel like you were going to fall if you stood up and you weren't squished into your seat, touching shoulders with the person next to you.

  Imagine an owner of any team today using their own money to build a stadium! William Davidson was a great man.

  I loved watching the Pistons at the Palace. I agree with Davidson about owning your own house instead of paying rent in someone else's. Gores had a different philosophy.

  Why the hell is he talking about the Silverdome buckling under heavy snow, but shows a clip of the roof of the Metrodome collapsing from snow?

  I lived less than a mile from the palace for many years in the 2000s. Was driving past the arena the night of the malice at the palace listening to the game on the radio when Artest went into the stands. I was one of those watching the demolition from Lapeer road. It was surreal. Many people cried.

  I once had to endure being dragged to The Palace of Auburn Hills by my daughters to witness a New Kids on the Block concert.  It was basically a bunch of rich kids singing to an ocean of estrogen.  It's a fond memory for a place that's now long gone.

  The exact same thing happened to the Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland..... Downtown and Cuyahoga County wanted to build a new arena downtown to get the Cavs back downtown.  When the Gateway tax vote passed, driven by the threat of the Indians relocating from Cleveland.... The County paid of Gordon Gund to move the Cavaliers from a building he owned to a building he didn't.  And the Coliseum was also a perfectly good arena.... In fact, many still called the Coliseum one of the best in the NBA.  The only difference was its lifespan was about 10 years shorter than the Palace.

  I loved going to the Palace, great place to see a concert. I drive by the site everyday on my way to work. Vinnie Johnson is a great guy. Used to see him around town when they were in the heyday of their Back to Back seasons. Its an awesome building he has now. They had a public contest to name it "The Palace of Auburn Hills" , I remember seeing it in the papers. And the Silverdome site is now a huge Amazon warehouse. Great documemtary. I do miss The Palace, great place. Silverdome, not so much.😊

  Had a avid basketball fan friend in town from Minnesota,, we were actually watching the Malice in the Palace game, it was unbelievable watching the melee develop, fans on the floor throwing punches players running up in the stands, announcer Rick Mahorne running into the stands trying to seperate players and fans wow! My friend had a suite at the Palace went to the Seger concert, last event at the Palace, sad.
