Joker makes references to the last season of the show “Lost” which means Arkham city takes place sometime in or after 2010. W video

The Reason For Arkham Knights Pill Dates Being June 23 2015 Is That This Was The Same Date The Game Was Released Same Goes For Arkham Origins

Hi, an Old here to clear things up: none of you need to be worrying about why they have smartphones, 1980s cars, and 1950s diners in Gotham City. Tech has been anachronistic and blended in Gotham based storytelling since The Animated Series in the 90s. That was one of the things we liked about it; it was chronologically ambiguous. They had 1940s cars and suits, widescreen CRT monitors that looked 80s-like (those didn’t exist in the 80s, I’d know, I was there.) and they also had supercomputers in that show more advanced than anything we even have yet today! One of the things that made the Arkham games feel so similar to the Animated Series was precisely that it didn’t seem to worry about when each piece of tech was from.

It seemed pretty obvious from Arkham Asylum and City that Rocksteady intended for the series to take a retro-futuristic approach where average Gothamites are basically living in the 1940s-50s, but Batman being Batman had way more advanced technology (similar to BTAS), but WB Montreal evidently didn’t get the memo. But that’s a great approach. It results in Gotham feeling like it could be ANY city in ANY time, and it makes it to where Batman’s gadgets are high tech but also the creators don’t have to speculate too much about futuristic technology, because Batman’s tech is realistic for us today

Another thing: Deathstroke is specifically stated to be 45 years old in Arkham Origins. In the comics, Deathstroke signed up for Vietnam when he was 16 (he lied about his age). US involvement in Vietnam ended in 1973, meaning Deathstroke would've had to been born around 1957, meaning Arkham Origins is in 2002.

Honestly that newspaper looks like it says 2009 to me. Which would make more sense since that's when the game came out

The year 2013 could have also been a teaser to when Arkham Origins was getting released.

I always got the vibe the plaque in Arkham City is meant to show a symbolical date, likely foundation of Arkham Asylum in 1921, rather than an actual date for opening of Arkham City

the expiration date in arkham knight is just a reference to when the game came out
