  This footage is absolutely outstanding! Thank you very much.<br>It brings back sweet memories. In 1992 I came to the Schuylkill area (from Germany) to visit and document the anthracite mines. There were still dozens of active ones. It was just amazing to see the tiny family run operations. One of the miners even invited me to an underground tour. The pit was very similar to the one shown in this video. Wonderful!

  The drag lines in the vid were called slusher buckets in Yorkshire coal mines, we used them to put packs on from ripping dirt on longwall faces in early 70s

  I&apos;m a former cornish tin miner in the early 1970s we used to drive the Clayton trams, and the Eimco air shovels could be found at every development &nbsp;drive end. My job was to lay the track at these ends as they moved forward every 2 to 3 days or maintain the existing track system over two different levels at 2000 ft below ground. &nbsp;Just 18 at the time, money then was very good with &nbsp;a bonus system and the 5 years of career set me up for the rest of my life. &nbsp;Enjoyed those days and a comaradery second to none other than the services, your life depended on your workmates and visa versa. &nbsp; Extremely physically demanding &nbsp;work but never did anyone any harm, conditions were harsh in poor torch light, high humidity and poor air quality, but earnings way above any other manual trade &nbsp;and many &nbsp;technical trades that I later in life went on to do. &nbsp;At almost 70 now &nbsp;I look back on my varied 4 different careers and wouldn&apos;t change any of it.

  Dad put 30yr underground here in eastern Ky. Uncles shop worked on cuttin machines,drills,scoops and had a a battery service in one section. All that’s left us…I miss pictures fallin off the walls from blastin back here in the 80s

  From a former bituminous miner in southwest PA, my hard hat goes off to you anthracite boys. Everything about your job is miserable. Only part of my job was.

  I was a miner in my youth, but mostly lead, zinc, copper, gold and silver. But I worked for a short time in a coal mine. The film is amazingly good, I worked with the same machines as you. I actually miss the hard but inspired life.
