Its really haunting to think about how many railroaders was seriously hurt or died very gruesome deaths in front of their friends and co-workers back in the old days for a rule to be written/amended.

I work for the RR and most of what was considered safe in the film is now strictly against the rules.

I’m pretty sure this was shot in the St Louis 12th street yards. Also filmed in 1943 when the 4-8-4 2100’s were rebuilt at Sedalia, Missouri.

I retired from BNSF. Getting on or off moving equipment has been prohibited for years now. Roof walks and footboards went away in the 70s.
