Roppongi Tokyo 09.18 🌸 fantastic story, last year while visiting my Son in Sydney , I visited the Statue of Captain William Bligh at ‘The Rocks’ and Circular Quay close to Sydney Harbour. At the back there is an inscription ‘ to restore the proper image of a much maligned and gallant man’ 🇦🇺

Teaching seafaring history "from a distance" to the reality of the most dangerous profession and without any practical insight into its challenges is somewhat near the knuckle. In fact, Bligh was one of he worst shipmasters in history with an evil reputation of leadership. As typical for British historical scholarship, this excellent accomplishment was solely attributed to him and his alleged high-grade seamanship. In truth, it was the tightly knit fellowship and proficiency of his boat crew that made this gruelling venture a success. But they were silenced by Bligh's authoritarian leadership style. Even Nelson, on several occasions, expressed his disgust of egomaniac commanders in the Navy without explicitly mentioning him.

Fascinating ! sadly the beautiful images bear often no relation to the story . Not to mention the description , which announces the story of the Spanish Santísima Trinidad.
