  Yamamoto also decided to make this trip because Halsey had just been to Guadalcanal.   The visit by Halsey to front line troops inspired them and significantly improved morale.   So, Yamamoto decided to do the same.

  If I remember my history correctly,  Yamamoto was found in his seat, outside the fuselage,  with his hand holding the hilt of his sword.

  The military had no real moral qualms about attacking the flight of Yamamoto.   Their concerns were security.   They must protect their ability to read the JN 25 messages. To cover their tracks and try to keep the Japanese from realizing we broke the code, it was announced that Australian coast watchers spread throughout the Pacific spotted and reported the flight.   Nimitz and Halsey decided it was well worth the risk.

  Showing the Japanese in uniforms looking like USA military is another glaring mistake. &nbsp; When greeting someone like Yamamoto Japanese officers would 😮been wearing a very distinctive olie/green or yellowish/green tropical uniforms with a tightly fashioned stand and fall collar. &nbsp; This means the collar was securely hooked/buttoned at the throat. <br>The US Navy wore open collar khaki uniforms in the Pacific.

  The fuel gauges of the P-58s could not be reading near empty as they started their return flight to Henderson Field or else they would not have been able to fly home and would have all died trying to get home. This attack was enabled by the US Forces taking Henderson Field at the Battle of Guadalcanal.

  Some of the AI generated footage is childish. &nbsp; Showing planes just flopping around on the ground to suddenly change direction is ridiculous. &nbsp; Or Showing it in reverse doesn&apos;t help either. &nbsp; It detracts from this very important event during WW2 and especially the daily grind and slog and meat grinder known as Guadalcanal. <br>My uncle fought on Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
