A decent bed, and your own pillow make things so much better

We schedule vacations from our vacation. Every three or so days, we do laundry, stay at the Vrbo, watch TV (the kids watched SpongeBob SquarePants in French), and play board games.

Pre-school boys are captivated by modes of transportation. It's pretty much universal.

From this point (w/ the boys), burnout may be more physical than mental. Seeing them enjoy new places and thigs to do will fill your memory box and heart. Of course, the body....take time and spread things out a bit. You are on VACATION after all! Really enjoy your simple unscripted(?) talk on these. Just like talking to friends.Again...let the moments simmer a bit and enjoy.... Thanks for letting us in on your family's trips!

1) Napping is not overrated! 2) Self-catering gives you options. 3) Never over-schedule 4] Everything if way easier if you have a car - (unless you’re on a walking break!) 5) Take a lakeside holiday sometimes. The boys will love the wildlife

When driving highways in the US, follow every brown sign you see. They take you to historical markers, out of they museums, and local points of interest. We started when traveling with our daughter, and have found some of the most magical "off the beaten path" places ever.

We recently took a family vacation and decided before the vacation that we were not going to over-schedule. We had one main goal for each day with a couple of days wide open to do whatever we wanted to. Was one of the best vacations that we have had in a long time.

Retired 50+ year railroader - If you are traveling using scheduled transportation modes - DON'T BE LATE - those carriers have established schedules for specific reasons. Everything else is negotiable depending upon the interests that get awakened along the way.

One other suggestion, or maybe point. It is great to plan things you want to see, places to go, things you want to do. Stories are what happened once you experienced those things. Don't try to plan the story you want to tell because it might not match the experience. Instead, share what the experience was and supplement that with photos/video that help bring everyone to that place with you.

And have a great trip!

Great video, folks. I've been following the Charismatic Voice since the lockdown, so I'm somewhat familiar with the family behind it. I'm glad you are taking the opportunity as relatively "fresh parents" to explore the world. My only child is in her late-20s, so that is a phase of life that I not only survived, but relished.
We were a Disney family from the start. We took our first trip to WDW when our daughter was 4ish. We knew she was experienced with restaurants, and was an easy kid to travel with. Long story short, this was a great experience for us. We went back to WDW annually for 11 years. I wish we had visited other places too during that time, but we never got tired of all WDW has to offer. Anyway, I'm a type-B, and her mother was definitely type-A, so we thought and reacted differently. As you know, to really make the most of your time and money at WDW, you need some kind of PLAN, so you don't wind up eating "burgers" every meal, and standing in line for things all day. By the time we started planning our 3rd trip, we realized all the time we "lost" previously. So, I built a spreadsheet! 🤪 That sounds counter-fun on the surface, but hear me out. We used that to document what we wanted to do for the upcoming trip, track dining reservations, so we COULD dine where we wanted, and from all of that build a daily itinerary as you guys mentioned. But, we didn't get all gung-ho and map out every hour of the day. Keep in mind, this all happened before smartphones, or easy internet access from anywhere. We decided there were must-dos for each day, so we built the day around that. We essentially built the day around where we would be eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some required reservations, but others simply good planning. Before our trip started, I organized "the plan" onto a daily card. Roughly business card sized, and laminated to survive the elements. It had our dining reservation numbers, highlights we wanted for that day, park hours for the park we would be for that day (don't park hop if you can avoid it!!!), and any special events like fireworks, or nighttime shows we wanted to see.
Yes, it took some time over the months leading up to the trip, but IN THE MOMENT it was very relaxed, and gave us room to explore our surroundings. We learned by doing over time what worked well for us and leaned into that. Now, there are dozens of apps available to provide this kind of assistance, but the important part is, have a rough outline of what you want to do (as Kurt mentioned!), and leave the rest of chance, timing, and an adventurous spirit. Some plans WILL not pan out, regardless of how well you planned in advance, and that's OK. Stay in the moment, and create those memories! Carpe Diem! 🎉
