My 63 year old confession; my brothers and our neighbors boys, with imagination, were the Thunderbirds. My brother, Pete was #4 and I was Virgil. #2. It's a fact. We lived this show in our backyard. Thanks remembering us old guys.

I was fortunate enough to watch this during childhood and it has stood the test of time well. Great episode!

This episode is even more fun when you are a fan from the start.

i still remember waking up at the crack of dawn when my father was leaving for work and running downstairs to watch thunderbirds until one day it just wasnt on anymore, being very young i didnt know how to tell time and i thought i just missed it, many mornings i watched the test pattern, then the national anthem and still no thunderbirds

Very interesting video. It was my best friend who sadly passed away and had the Lady Penelope puppet. I arranged for its authentication and eventual sale at auction. Sadly, nothing could take away the sadness of the death of my best friend.

In the early to mid 70's I spent 6th-9th grade in England thanks to my father being in the US Air Force. At the time there were only three channels that I recall. The Thunderbirds, Dr Who, and Monty Python were my life.

In the early 80's, we were a group of students doing prototype and industrial modelmaking and a guest lecturer (no name out of professional courtesy) was involved with Gerry Anderson (post Thunderbirds) and showed us 2 of the Thunderbirds puppets he was given (Alan & Tintin ?). He also said that some of the one-off models used in one episode only, from Stingray, Thunderbirds etc would be taken home by crew as toys for their children, others simply thrown out and ending up in a rubbish dump. While 'we' see these models as special, at the time the studio saw redundant models as just junk. It was claimed that years later, fanatics would search the alleged dump used to try to find the old models. When a series ended, models would be taken by crew as either souveneirs or toys.
