Great podcast! I lost half my hair a few years ago due to peri menopause, which I didn’t know at the time. Since taking HRT my hair had grown back, looks healthy and shiny. I also oil my hair and eat a high protein diet. I get compliments about my skin too!! HRT most definitely plays a significant role!

Love this interview, and how I have experienced that fixing hormone deficiencies, fixes the skin, wether on the scalp or face. Sebum is actually a magical thing, when the body starts producing it again, after many years of taking anti-androgens, like Roaccutane and the combination pill, with their disasterous effects on hormone levels. Thank you for confirming what I have witnessed personally.

On shampoos... I had really bad hairloss when I became peri-menopausal. I did have to experiment and buy different shampoos and conditioners and it made a helluva difference! This brand helped STOP my hairloss --> Maria Nila Head & Hair Heal Shampoo, also conditioner. Not cheap, but did work a treat!
I've never seen/heard of the "menopause" shampoos. That's BS. But I stopped using regular shampoo & conditioner with silicones, parabens etc. and that helped!

Very interesting topic. I developed rosacea in my 40s and migraines, which I now know was due to menopause.

I had an oophorectomy at age 23 (decades ago, and now known to have been unnecessary), and doctors subsequently took me off the Premarin I'd been put on (patches weren't yet available), saying I was too young to stay on it. I stopped sleeping, had huge mood changes, and the worst thing was that I developed formication. It truly felt like ants were crawling under my skin. My mother had been psychotic, and when the formication began, I thought it was a sign of psychosis developing in me. How damn sad it is to think of all that I've gone through due to an early loss of hormones! I eventually resumed estrogen, transitioning to the patch when it was available, and am just now adding the other two.

I developed dermatitis around my eyes a few months after starting micronized progesterone, when I rubbed my eyes a lot one night. It took me forever to make the connection and I suffered with it for about 5 months, so bad that my skin would crack and bleed. I tried stopping it and had one more mini-flair and then it went away completely.

A few weeks ago I tried taking it again and this time developed the same textured red patches but on my neck.

Hi, I love all your podcasts, I’ve learned a lot. I’m 44 and my symptoms indicate perimenopause , I also have Kindler EB an I believe my skin suffer because hormone decrees but my Gp done some blood tests and think I don’t need HRT . My skin is itchy due to my condition also; my but so many other symptoms lead to perimenopause, bloating, brain fog, mood change… Are you aware of this EB condition and if HRT would benefit me?! Thank you !
