I used to be a collector but now, I am a shooter. I got tired of a rack full of guns that were too nice to take shooting. I now buy guns that others have spent the money on having them rebuilt. This ranges from Sharps, and high wall and such all the way to lever guns and some early bolt guns. Really enjoying all the shooting now in my retirement.

you would think the rifles are the highlight, but the real star of the show is the landscape :)

Mark, Fires are alarming everywhere. A little over a year ago, we had a bad fire here in Gillespie County, Texas. The fires started roadside then moved to the southeast. A number of houses burned, many ranchers lost large numbers of hay, barns burned, vehicles burned and of course pastures burned of all forage. My home was less than a mile south of the fire path. We could see the flames shooting up in the horizon. The next day, after the main fire was well past our location, the wind rose strongly from the north. A secondary fire started and was moving towards us. The firefighters, including air tankers, were able to contain the fire. The fire burned off almost 10,000 acres of populated area. The fire was fueled mainly by thick cedar, ashe juniper, brush. The cedar burns like petroleum, trees exploding with flame. I am thankful for the various volunteer fire departments, reinforced by the state, who battled the fire. At my age, I could have been of little help. But, I make sure to make generous contributions to the volunteer fire departments.

Another great video, Thank You

Thank you for sharing these two great old rifles! Like you, I love the 1895’s. I know how devastating those fires can be and am praying for all of you out there!

I’m glad to hear that you haven’t had to deal with that fire, praying for all those people that’s quite a hit. As far as the restoration question. Save those special rifles. Those young people coming up who can’t afford 15 20 30, $40,000 rifles will appreciate what you’ve done to preserve through restoration of these rifles that are rare.

Keeping you all in our prayers, here in Australia we have experienced bad fires in the past, the speed and devastation is hard to describe.
