Thank you so much for this episode. Through counseling and my own experience, I have come to similar conclusions. I think I've been waiting for outside affirmation though, and this has felt even more healing to me. I could go on and on, but for now .. thank you

"Sin Nature" is Christological heresy. It has been known to be Christological heresy since the early church. We had councils about this - like Nicaea.

We kinda just treated our children like people who could be encouraged for good far more than be discouraged from bad. Both are functioning adults with life partners and they are generally happy given these times of Christian Nationalism and nation-wide intolerance towards the "different." What they see of these attempts by Dobson et al. to "control" kids by beating their spirit out of them is that Christianity is a hellish religion that uses torture and violence and pain to "teach" godliness and good behaviors. Those who told us parents to treat our kids as enemies of our respect and authority have helped to create several generations of people who despise Christianity and despise these attempts to tell people that God "loves" them but wants to put them in eternal hell after a lifetime living with people who make life on this earth hell for them.
