  I moved to Spain to a little village in extramadura and decided live in a village in rural Spain because of my age.nobody speaks speaks English which I love to me it’s real Spain and because I have been learning Spanish as well.people here appreciate that I try and I feel so safe here no crime and everybody helps me,when I had to have a operation people made me food and looked out for me.

  A Spaniard living in Scotland here.<br><br>I am glad you are enjoying my country. Sure, social life, style, and food (with all its regional variations) is appeling for foreigners and we miss it when we go abroad. <br><br>Also, not all Spain is the same: there&apos;re crappy places, tourist traps and not everyone will agree with health care, also under pressure in many areas.<br><br>In my experience and what I heard from others, &nbsp;job culture is better in the UK: opportunities, recognition, &nbsp;respect. Even at the interview level you can negotiate terms and conditions, while in Spain that is rare.<br><br>Drivers in the UK are more courteous, with some exceptions. <br><br>British are kinder to animals.<br><br>British are better following rules and regulations.<br><br>Landscape in Scotland is unique, and Aviemore is my favourite place in the world.

  I’m 65, paid NI for 40 years but just had to pay £2000 for dental treatment……..NHS is an utter disgrace

  We moved to Spain three years ago, the only regret is that we didn&apos;t do it sooner! Kids are thriving, our health has improved massively, and we have gained a lot in quality of life. I go back to the UK once or twice a year as I have some assets, and every time I get back to Spain, I feel so thankful we managed to make the move. Now I help people with visa/residency applications and its a very rewarding job as I see how happy people are once they get the papers :D

  I moved to Spain 3 years ago... now living a life on the Costa Blanca, amongst a society with a positive outlook, great weather, family values, lower taxes, better healthcare, healthier food, and (based on the 2 occasions I&apos;ve interacted with the Guardia) friendly helpful Police. Shocking that anyone would ever want to move back to England. Watching the country&apos;s downfall from afar is unsettling...<br><br>LOWER TAXES - might not be accurate. I&apos;ve been self‑employed for years, and back in the UK meant equivalent payroll taxes <b>but</b> here in Spain there are other social-security payments which could be viewed as taxes, so Spain does pay slightly more in total. <b>HOWEVER</b> living and working here in Spain costs so much less; housing, food, eating out, insurance, and healthcare are all noticeably cheaper, around 30–40% cheaper. <br> <br>So even though I keep more of my income in the UK, my day‑to‑day life here in Spain is the better choice for lifestyle and everyday costs. <br><br>Me despierto cada mañana con una sonrisa en la cara :)

  You’re more than welcome here! We Spaniards tend to be open and welcoming to immigrants. I was an immigrant in the UK before Brexit, and for the most part, I felt very welcomed too. My advice: be kind to people, treat everyone with respect, and enjoy yourself. One small tip—don’t assume we’ll always have to reply in English. You are not in the UK 😉

  I thought I would have a quick check to see the opinions and was glad to see the overall result is pro Spain. I arrived in Mallorca in Aug 1975 &nbsp;aged 24 by ferry with my new Honda Four 750. Here I sit 50 years later writing this . Am I happy - yes very. Will I ever go back to the UK &nbsp;- &nbsp;no.
