Bobby Driscoll’s tragic history sounds a lot like another child Disney chewed up and spit out, Lindsay Lohan. Thank God she managed to survive, unlike him. These studios need to realize that they are forever warping the minds and lives of the kids they use as “The Cutest New Thing” and should help them transition to a “normal” life after they’ve wrung every drop of cuteness out of them. It’s no coincidence that for every Jodie Foster who went from successful child star to successful adult star, there’s a hundred Bobby Driscolls - former child stars who died as a wreck.

You're drug analogy is actually pretty spot on Kate. As someone who started using H at a young age (14) it definitely affected my mental growth ( and health). I've been clean for 17 years, but at the age I am now (52) I still sometimes behave how a teen/young adult does.
So I can totally understand that fame would be very much the same, as both have to do with dopamine receptors in your brain.

Woah i can't believe their FIRST EVER child star went down the 'Disney Child-Star gone crazy'. Disney have an insane amount of blood on their hands imo, and also can we stop putting children to work now..

I knew nothing of this Peter Pan/ Bobby Driscoll history. It’s an interesting way for you to have entered into the world of the Factory. I like your idea of the Factory as a photo negative version of Neverland. Can’t wait for Judy Garland next week!

If your show does well locally, would you consider bringing it to Toronto or Montreal? We'd eat that up

Also, Dirt is not an Andy Warhol film and was not shot at the Factory. It used a lot of Warhol people, but it was directed by Andy's friend Piero Heliczer. You can see about ten minutes of Dirt on ubuweb's videos section. Most of Piero's films are totally lost, sadly.

You missed one thing about Bobby being dismissed from Disney: Howard Hughes had bought RKO which distributed Disney films, and Hughes HATED precocious child actors. He especially hated Bobby Driscoll and used his influence to have him fired. Just an FYI, Danny Wiliams died in 1967, not 1966.

Many are rightly suspicious of JM for these odd things, including me. But I have also wondered if he was not (or not only) a pdf but a victim of one himself. And that his writings were him processing this trauma and his victimized shame. He might have been writing about his own emotional and psychological damage and his inability to "grow up" into an adequate man of his era. I read that that wife of his left him for a really young guy. And, just his whole life was sad and strange.

James Barrie was a wonderful person. He wasn't a pedophile. He was a man of great talent and wisdom.
Peter didn't have a good relationship with James Barrie. Michael and James Barrie did have a good relationship. James helped children, but when that happens, people start to misinterpret the facts without even having any proof. The same thing happened with Michael Jackson. And in the end, where is the proof? It's just people talking without any basis.
You're wrong to criticize the author, James Barrie.
Peter Pan is the story of a boy who knew the corrupt world of adults and didn't want to grow up to die bitter like Hook.
It's a symbolic tale full of truth, but people think Peter Pan is a boy who doesn't want to be responsible. Don't speak without knowledge.
