The Mayan calendar predicted "end of an era" in 2012, which got misinterpreted as the end of the world, but in reality someone 5k years ago just said "yea I guess things will be different by then" and fair point they were right I guess, y'know you figure they can make a new calendar in 5k years if you were making one too

Just a thought - the map in the barber shop looks a lot like a world height relief map, or topographical map, where the sea level his risen ~100m from where it is today - it looks identical, actually. So no, Nepal isn't underwater, it's just so high that a different colour represents that height; same for the Andes.
