  This is a really useful video. The drive on my Aiwa AD-F370 is the same as the left hand drive on this machine (although is unidirectional). The info on lubrication and also the description of the belt travel and centering was very interesting - thanks for that useful information! Fortunately the belts I have bought are 4mm wide which seems correct, although I'm still 'experimenting' to find the correct length! From the comments below @Independent Voice,  the 69mm I ordered yesterday might be the one! Thanks! Subscribed! Note I didn't desolder the solenoids I just released the little plastic PCB clip which allows the PCB to be lifted enough to slip a flat belt between - just be careful not to get tied up around the speed adjustment preset pot. With my first belt (73mm dia), like you, I also had problems getting the play to engage properly. FF and REW fine. I hadn't even remembered FF and REW had auto stop! Neither had I remembered that the AD-F370 had auto tape type select. Well I haven't used it for nigh on 30 years...! I notice your left drive doesn't have tape type auto detect.

  Nice video. I bought such a deck back then new, but sold it a little later, it was no competition for my Alpine AL85 or Sony TC-K666ES. Got two of them (and two AD-WX808,  a AD-WX727 and AD-WX929) for nostalgia reasons recently. The auto-reverse head gear is now available as a remake from aliexpress, as I had one gear which broke in 2 I got one and it's compatible. One other standout feature of this deck is it's capability to dub a Dolby C encoded cassette to a cassette without Dolby or with Dolby B, in normal speed dubbing, thanks to it's two independent Dolby circuits.

  thanks you very much for this video I have got one from my uncle second hand and all it needs is a new belt and my dad builds this stuff for a living and he was scared to take it apart because he doesn't want to damage is further and your video showed him how to do it I shared the video to him and now he can do it and I am really excited so than you very much😊 and we have the belts and they are the correct ones so i don't have to worry about them😁

  I have a WX-999 that has an issue, it plays ok on the second deck but the reverse does not engage when pressed or when the tape reaches the end, the two reels rotate in the opposite direction then switching back to the working direction. Only one reel should moving. The other transport controls don't lock in FW/RW, they stop when depressed.

  You clearly know what you're doing! Would you be able to do more of a "deep dive" video on setting up a cassette deck? i.e. speed, record and playback levels, oscillator frequencies, bias setup, azimuth setup etc, what is on the test tapes you're using (I'd need to make my own where viable). I realise pot details etc are deck specific, it's more the test and adjustment sequence and what you are measuring and whether you're using a 'scope or frequency counter etc. Thanks! If not maybe there is another video you could recommend? (I trust your judgement!).

  Hi..I am from India. I have this same deck. Everything works ok except for both tape counter displays which are off. In dark I can see portions of the lcd numbers moving on the counters. Something like it happens on lcd calculators where portions of the numbers are missing. Any suggestions what could be the problem....Thanks...Sanjeev Gujral

  Great video. I wonder if you could provide the details of the 3 piece belts you replaced. Where to buy and sizes will be grateful.<br>My deck 1 possibly has the same fault as yours. Deck 2 has no sound.
