Maybe the eldritch horror was the friends we made along the way

"Eldrich beings are the final boss of empathy." - What a fantastic way to describe it.

This is exactly what I love to see with eldritch horror. Not a mindless beast or unknowable evil, just something incomprehensible yet curious as we are.

Between Slay The Princess and The Magnus Archives, Jonathan Sims is the king of empathizing with eldritch horrors tbh

I’ve always wanted to see a story where an eldritch horror looks after a child. The horror of eldritch horror is that they’re incomprehensible-but to a child, incomprehensible is the default. I think we forget that about children. That they know nothing at all and they have to learn or they’ll die. It’s a terrifying thing to experience and it’s probably why adults have such a fear of the unknown in the first place. A story where the unknown takes care of a child would put that in perspective, and maybe teach that things don’t have to be entirely known to be loved.

"Unable to perceive the shape of you, I find you all around me. Your presence fills my eyes with your love, it humbles my heart for you are everywhere"

I actually had an idea for an Eldritch entity who's quite fascinated with humans, think like, what if you found a way to talk to ants and they have a genuine conversation with you, and you get to see things from their perspective, experience things from their eyes. Talking to my DM about making a homebrew warlock with that kind of relationship with his patron.

It's not about a eldritch horror, but once I dreamed I was a bird. The thing is, I didn't just felt like myself on a bird body, I felt like I WAS A BIRD. Like, if I became a bird right now, with my human mind, I'd just love to fly freely and be amazed by the world and how it must feel to fly. But when I dreamed I was a bird, on the actual point of view of one, the most important thing for me in the whole universe during that dream was to stay sitting on my nest, warming my eggs.
I never even wanted kids or anything, but it gave me a really interesting experience this dream. Of how being something different might not just feel different, but might make you THINK in a totally different way, and how we can never trully understand the visceral part of the point of view of all the other creatures in this world.

I think “sympathetic in spirit” is a good way to describe it. Especially in the case of Bloodborne. Because you’re entirely capable of feeling bad for their situation but the actions they take defy any sense of sympathy. Elder Gods want children and humans are the only way it’s possible for them but everything they do to get that just makes them too horrible for anyone to sympathize with

Funny enough I think Deltarune does this to except we are the Eldritch horror, trying to understand the mortal characters in the game through the only methods we have to interact with the world.
When we try to push even further and declare our presence in the game it shatters a certain character to where they simply fold in our presence while our player character can only helplessly hurt themselves and plead in order to stop us
